Who We Are
The New England Panthers are a youth basketball sports mentoring/enrichment program serving grades 5 - 11th through out the Boston metropolitan area. We currently serve 40 kids enrolled in our program to date who live in different social classes ranging from at risk low income families to families who are considered, middle/upper class. This gives the program a unique opportunity to build relationships, break down stereotypes and judgments, while also bridging the gap between the different social classes.
Coaching Staff
Vince Johnson (Head Coach and Founder)
Coach Johnson is the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball Program at Beaver Country Day School, Head Coach of the New England Panthers AAU basketball program and founder of VJ Hoops Academy – an elite basketball development program based in Massachusetts. He is a former collegiate athlete, professional basketball player and has coached his teams to multiple conference and league titles. As a result of his unique training and development approach, many of his students have gone on to elite collegiate programs including Brown University, MIT, Oberlin and others.
Shawn Sanders (Assistant Coach)
Coach Sanders is in his 3rd year as the head assistant coach for the New England Panthers AAU program as well as Assistant coach Girls Varsity Basketball Beaver Country Day School. He is also the founder of Int3sity -Agility, Speed, and Strength Training for the youth.
